Agreement to these terms
By accessing or using BuildMateCalc (“the site”, “we”, “us”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the site. We may update these terms from time to time; continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The current version will always be available on this page with its last-updated date.
Free use license
BuildMateCalc provides free online construction calculators for personal and commercial use at no charge. You do not need an account, and there are no usage quotas for normal, human use of the calculators through a web browser.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the site and its calculators. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. The site’s design, text content, and branding remain our property or the property of our licensors.
No warranty
The site and all calculators are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that any calculation or result will be accurate, complete, or suitable for your purpose. Calculator outputs are generated by client-side scripts and should be independently verified before you rely on them for important decisions.
Estimates, not professional advice
Our construction calculators produce estimates for educational and planning purposes only. They are not engineering advice, contracting advice, or a substitute for consultation with a qualified professional. Material prices, yields, and local building codes change; always verify figures with your supplier and a licensed professional before acting on them. See our Disclaimer for full details.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BuildMateCalc and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, or goodwill — arising from your use of or inability to use the site or its calculators, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising from the site shall not exceed the amount you paid to use it, which is zero.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use automated systems, bots, or scrapers to access the site at a rate that degrades service for others. Normal browser use and good-faith search engine crawling are welcome; aggressive scraping is not.
- Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or circumvent the site’s functionality or security measures.
- Upload or submit content that is unlawful, harmful, or infringes the rights of others.
- Misrepresent the site’s calculators or outputs as your own service without attribution, or re-host our calculators in a way that implies endorsement by us.
We reserve the right to restrict access for abuse, including rate-limiting or blocking IP addresses engaged in scraping or attacks, without prior notice.
Intellectual property
The BuildMateCalc name, logo, and site content are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may link to our calculators and share your results freely. You may not copy substantial portions of the site, reproduce our branding to imply affiliation, or redistribute our calculators as your own product.
Third-party services and advertising
The site is supported by display advertising and may use third-party analytics to understand aggregate usage. These services operate under their own terms and privacy policies, described in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. We are not responsible for the content or practices of external sites linked from our pages.
Changes to the service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any calculator or part of the site at any time without notice, for example to fix errors, update methodologies, or respond to abuse. We will make reasonable efforts to keep popular calculators available and accurate.
