Privacy Policy

BuildMateCalc is designed to be private by default: the calculators on this site run entirely in your browser, and anything you type into them never leaves your device. This policy explains the limited data we do collect, why we collect it, and your rights. Last updated: November 2026.

Who we are

BuildMateCalc (“we,” “us”) operates this website, a collection of free browser-based construction calculators. For privacy questions, contact us at support@buildmatecalc.site.

Data we collect

We deliberately collect as little as possible:

• Calculator inputs — never collected. Our calculators process your input locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your entries are never transmitted to our servers, stored, or shared. We cannot see what you typed, even if we wanted to.
• Anonymous usage counts. When you use a calculator, your browser fires a local event so we can count, in aggregate, which calculators are popular. These counts contain no personal data and no input values — just “the concrete calculator was used,” not by whom or with what numbers.
• Analytics (if enabled). We may use Google Analytics 4 to understand overall site traffic — which pages are visited, approximate location (city level), device type, and how visitors found the site. GA4 does not collect your calculator inputs. You can opt out with Google’s opt-out browser add-on or any ad/tracker blocker.
• Contact emails. If you email us, we receive your email address and message content so we can reply. We use it only to respond, never add it to a marketing list, and never share it.
• Server logs. Like virtually every website, our hosting provider automatically logs basic technical data (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for security and troubleshooting. These logs are retained briefly and not used to profile visitors.

We do not create user accounts, so we hold no usernames, passwords, or profiles. We do not run newsletters and collect no marketing data.

Cookies

Our own site sets no tracking cookies for calculator usage. However, third parties described below (analytics and advertising) may set their own cookies in your browser. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the calculators will continue to work normally, since they don’t depend on cookies.

Third-party advertising (Google AdSense)

This site displays ads served by Google AdSense to keep every calculator free. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites — this is known as interest-based advertising.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You may also use industry opt-out pages such as aboutads.info. Choosing non-personalized ads does not reduce the number of ads you see, only their relevance.

Importantly, advertisers never receive your calculator inputs — those never leave your browser, so there is nothing to share.

How we use data

The limited data described above is used only to: keep the site running securely, understand which calculators and pages are useful (in aggregate), respond to your messages, and serve the ads that fund the site. We do not sell personal data, rent it, or share it with data brokers. Ever.

Data retention

Because we don’t collect calculator inputs or accounts, there is almost nothing to retain. Contact emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request. Server logs rotate automatically on a short cycle. Analytics data follows Google’s default retention settings.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR in the EU/UK and similar laws elsewhere), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict personal data we hold about you, to object to processing, and to data portability. Since we hold essentially no personal data beyond emails you send us and standard server logs, most requests will simply confirm that there is nothing to provide — but we will honor every legitimate request. Children’s privacy

BuildMateCalc is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Our calculators require no accounts and collect no inputs, which inherently limits any exposure. If you believe a child has contacted us by email and you want that message deleted, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

International visitors

Our servers may be located in a different country than you. By using the site you understand that technical data (like server logs) may be processed where our hosting provider operates. We minimize what is collected precisely so cross-border transfer is a non-issue.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves — for example, if we add a new analytics tool or feature. Material changes will be noted here with a new “last updated” date. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
