Our approach to cookies

The BuildMateCalc theme itself sets zero cookies. Our calculators run entirely in your browser: the measurements you enter and the searches you run are processed on your device and are never sent to our servers. We do not use cookies to track what you type into any calculator.

We do use a small amount of browser local storage (not cookies) purely for your preferences — for example, remembering whether you chose dark or light mode. This data never leaves your device and is not used for tracking.

Cookies set by third-party services

When enabled, the following third-party services may set their own cookies in your browser. These are governed by their own policies, not ours:

  • Google Analytics (optional). If we enable analytics, Google Analytics may set cookies such as _ga and _gid to help us understand aggregate usage — for example, which calculators are popular. These cookies do not identify you personally to us, and IP anonymization is enabled. Learn more in Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Google AdSense / advertising partners. Display ads on the site are served by Google AdSense and its partners, which may use cookies (including the __gads cookie and advertising identifiers) to show relevant ads and measure their performance. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.   • Embedded content. If we ever embed third-party content (such as videos), those providers may set their own cookies per their policies.

Our own analytics

Our built-in usage statistics count completed calculator uses in aggregate (for example, “the concrete calculator was used 42 times today”). This system uses no cookies, honors your browser’s Do Not Track setting, stores no personal data, and automatically deletes detailed records after 90 days.

Managing and deleting cookies

You are in control. You can manage cookies through your browser settings:

  • Block or delete cookies: every major browser lets you block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or delete existing cookies. Look under Settings → Privacy in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari.
  • Private browsing: incognito/private windows discard cookies when closed.
  • Google opt-outs: use Google Ads Settings for ad personalization and the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to prevent analytics tracking.

Blocking cookies will not break our calculators — they work exactly the same, since they never relied on cookies in the first place. Some third-party features (such as remembering ad preferences) may behave differently.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of services changes — for example, if we enable or remove analytics or advertising providers. Material changes will be reflected in the last-updated date below.
